You may need to take it for a few days to get the full effect, but it should work within a few weeks. My doctor has said that the best course of treatment is to take it once every 12 hours. The doctors do not recommend Flagyl for everyone. I am currently taking 500mg of metronidazole every other day for the same UTI. That's why I am still not sure what I should do in order to get the best results. My question is, will my doctor recommend a different antibiotic for me as I am a good candidate for this treatment?
